Aladdin Umbrella Fund SICAV Plc was an investment fund registered in Malta that had at least three sub-funds: Privaxis Gold, Privaxis Bonds, and Privaxis Emerging Markets.[289] [290] [294] Between 2010 and 2013, it was called Privaxis Umbrella Fund SICAV Plc.[295]
The fund was closely linked to Olivier Mestelan, a Swiss lawyer and business associate of Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva.[534] [549] Between 2011 and 2013, Mestelan was a director and shareholder of the fund, along with Reyl Asset Management SA,[292] [294] a Geneva-headquartered investment manager.[677] [678] [677] In April 2013, Mestelan’s shares were transferred to Gulf Pearl Consulting FZ LLC,[293] a UAE registered company for which Mestelan is the sole director.[298] At the same time, Mestelan resigned as director of Privaxis, and Swiss banker Philippe Houman was appointed in his stead.[293]
The fund is no longer active, having been struck off the register.[289]
