Description

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was a bank registered in the UAE.[617] In 2017, it merged with First Gulf Bank—which records show was used by Leyla Aliyeva—to become First Abu Dhabi Bank, the largest bank by assets in the UAE.[587] [11] [618]

A Dubai company linked to Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva, Yassat Gloria Hotel Apartments FZ-LCC, held an account at the bank.[341] Between September 2015 and February 2017, the company transferred a total of 140.7 million AED ($38.3 million) from its account at NBAD to an account at Malta’s Pilatus Bank belonging to Sahra FZCO,[341] [433] [460] a UAE registered company owned by Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva.[4] The payments were described as dividend distributions on SWIFT payment records.[341]
