Plato Capital and Co. Investment Company OJSC is a company registered in Azerbaijan.[1033] The company is associated with Plato Capital, a Dubai-based investment fund,[209] and it owns a 4.8% stake in the Baku Stock Market.[1032]
Plato Capital International Holdings Limited, a British Virgin Island company, owns 99% of Plato Capital and Co. Investment Company, and Furies Bia Investments Limited, a UAE company, owns the remaining 1%.[1034] Its director is Farnoush Farsiar, a British-Iranian private banker and Plato Capital’s founder.[209] [1034]
Farsiar features extensively in the records of Malta’s Pilatus Bank, which was shuttered in 2018 over systemic failures to comply with anti-money laundering regulations.[587] Investigators who trawled through the bank’s records found that Farsiar had acted as the protector of trusts set up for the benefit of a network of Azerbaijani political figures, including Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva.[11] [341] Farsiar, along with Australian accountant Robert John Baker, used Furies Bia Investments Limited to manage the Aliyeva and Heydarov accounts at Pilatus Bank.[11] [341]
