Kris Thykier is a Danish film producer who served as co-director with Leyla Aliyeva for two UK registered companies: Ali and Nino Productions Limited and Between Asia and Europe Limited, the latter of which was dissolved.[580] [690] [582] Thykier and Leyla Aliyeva are credited as the producer and executive producer, respectively, of “Ali and Nino,”[580] [568] [569] a 2016 film adaptation of the classic 20th century Azerbaijani novel of the same name.[569] Thykier is the sole director of the film’s UK production company, Ali and Nino Pictures Limited.[690]
The film premiered in Baku in October 2016 at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.[653] Thykier gave a speech at the opening, which was attended by members of the Aliyev family, saying that without Leyla Aliyeva’s support, the film would have never have been made: “I am lucky to have been able to work with her, to consider her a friend.”[653]
