Biography

Thamer Aidi was a London-based investment manager with an MBA from Rice University.[15] He was married to Farnoush Farsiar,[586] founder of the Dubai-based investment fund Plato Capital.[209] He was diagnosed with a brain tumor around 2013 and died in 2017.[949]

With Australian accountant Robert John Baker, Aidi ran Paddington Partners Ltd in Guernsey.[11] In 2012, they signed a letter of engagement to handle all the business interests of the family of Kamaladdin Heydarov, Azerbaijan’s minister of emergency situations.[4] Aidi and Baker are shareholders of Palma Management Consulting DMCC,[9] [586] [11] a Dubai company that financial investigators suspected had been used as a “payment hub” for senior Azerbaijani political figures.[11] Investigators found that, between 2015 and 2016, Palma received a total of $876,580 from an account at Pilatus held by Sahra FZCO,[586] [11] a company owned by Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva.[5]
