Thiik Salva Kiir Mayardit is the son of the president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir.[99] He was listed as a shareholder of four South Sudan-based companies, including Nile Link Petroleum, as of October 8, 2014;[97] [99] Sekoko Power SS Ltd, as of April 19, 2016;[26] Buffalo Commercial Bank Limited, as of February 7, 2007;[114] and Alok Insurance Company Limited, as of February 12, 2007.[109]
In a 2020 response to The Sentry, a shareholder of Sekoko Power SS Ltd stated that the company never traded and was dormant.[217]
In a 2019 response to The Sentry’s report “The Taking of South Sudan,” the Office of the President said that Thiik Salva Kiir Mayardit was a 20% shareholder in Sekoko Power and that the company was not active.[214]
