Manut Salva Kiir is the son of the president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir.[7] He was listed as a shareholder of six South Sudan-based companies. These include:

Paradise Energy Global, as of May 28, 2012;[22]
Independence Bank of South Sudan PLC, as of July 18, 2013;[88]
Meta International Trading Co. Ltd, as of May 31, 2012;[21]
Ayen Model Forex PLC, as of July 27, 2010;[43] and
Maltek Consulting, as of July 3, 2012.[148]
In a 2019 response to The Sentry, a shareholder of Independence Bank of South Sudan stated that the bank never became operational and denied that the son of the president was associated with the bank.[216]
In a 2019 response to The Sentry’s report “The Taking of South Sudan,” the Office of the President said that Manut Salva Kiir Mayardit was a 89% shareholder in Meta International and that the company was not active.[214]
